ChandigarhChandigarh property owners protest on the call of Chandigarh Property Shareholders Welfare Association standard operating procedures (SOP) issued by the UT administration to implement the Supreme Court order against apartmentisation in the city.
Supported by all three political parties, BJP, Congress and AAP, representatives of Builders Association, Chandigarh, and several market welfare associations gathered in Sector 17 with placards and marked “Black Day”.
The protesters said that if the administration did not amend the SOP, the property owners would be forced to hit the streets.
“The SOPs are not based on the Supreme Court order. It is nowhere written in the judgment that share-wise registry should be banned by the UT. Secondly, the Supreme Court had ordered for Sector 1 to 30, while the administration has imposed restrictions for the entire city,” the protesters said.
The protesters said, ‘The Supreme Court had said in its decision that if three strangers apply for a house plan, think seriously before approving it. Apart from this, the registry was not banned anywhere in the judgment. After SOP, a shareholder will neither be able to sell his property outside his family nor make a will.
