Vijayawada: Around 50,000 women beneficiaries in the state have returned their home sites to the respective district administrations, demanding better sites than what was given to them.
The beneficiaries are among the 30.3 lakh people who were given house space by the government. Those who returned the plots said they were either located close to the cemetery or far away from their present residences.
The government has taken up the housing program in a big way and is developing Jagannath Colonies across the state. According to officials, around 17 lakh colonies are coming up in the state to accommodate 30.3 lakh beneficiaries.
During this CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Instructed the officials to provide alternative places to the beneficiaries. The District Magistrates have been instructed to find alternative places and give them to 50,000 women.
BM Diwan MaidenThe special chief secretary to the government in the housing department said the chief minister wanted “100% satisfaction” among the beneficiaries of the housing program and accordingly alternate sites were being identified.
