BDA Commissioner G Kumar Naik is said to have promised the Assembly Petition Committee that he would periodically review the progress of both the engineering and land acquisition departments of BDA on the lines of Dr. Shivram Karanth Layout.

Assembly petitions committee interim chairman S Suresh Kumar and its members met on Thursday to discuss two main issues: lack of infrastructure in Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout and inordinate delay in the proposed relocation Bandemath Layout From Karnataka Housing Board For Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

Kumar Naik, Member Engineering HS Shantarajanna and other members of the committee were present. It was decided to complete the acquisition of 1400 acres of land for layout on priority basis.

It was also decided to hold a special board meeting to clear all pending approvals for development works in Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout.

The BDA commissioner is said to have assured the panel that he would review the progress of land acquisition and infrastructure works in the layout. It also said that the BDA commissioner assured that he would submit the progress report of land acquisition and infrastructure works to the Vidhan Sabha Petition Committee once in 15 days.

S Suresh Kumar, interim chairman of the assembly petitions committee, told BM that the BDA commissioner is convinced that there has been inordinate delay in ensuring basic amenities and infrastructure in Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout. Suresh Kumar said, “The BDA commissioner has assured us that he will submit the report to the committee once in 15 days.”

Surya Kiran, spokesperson of the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout Open Forum, said he was positive about the commitment given by the BDA commissioner. “The BDA commissioner has promised to review the progress of development works on a weekly basis. I hope the BDA will do the developmental work and complete the land acquisition,” said Surya Kiran.

Santosh Patil, who had bought a site in the layout six years ago, had demanded the BDA to complete the work. Varun GP, ​​who bought a site on the layout in a public auction, urged the BDA to complete the land acquisition.
