Andhra Pradesh: Jagannath tops in energy savings

Visakhapatnam: The state government has come up with India’s biggest energy efficiency project in its housing scheme named ‘Navaratnalu Pedalandariki Illu-Jaganna Colonies’.

Central Government’s Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) is considering entering into a tripartite agreement with Andra Pradesh The Housing and Energy Department will supply these energy efficient appliances at cost-effective prices to the beneficiaries of this housing scheme.

The state government is constructing 15.6 lakh houses in the first phase of the Jagannath Colonies programme. These devices are expected to save 734 units of electricity per household per year. The energy savings for all the 15.6 lakh households combined would be ₹350 crore.

EESL has agreed in principle to supply energy efficient appliances like LED bulbs, LED tube lights and energy efficient fans. Accordingly, the State Housing Department will procure these equipment through EESL, while the Andhra Pradesh State Energy Efficiency Development Corporation Ltd.apcdco) will oversee the Project Management Consultancy activities and monitor its implementation.

The housing department will distribute four LED bulbs, two LED tubelights and two energy efficient fans to each beneficiary. EESL indicated that energy efficient fans, LED tube lights and LED bulbs would save around 50, 60 and 90 per cent energy, respectively, as compared to conventional appliances.

During a teleconference between Special Chief Secretary (Housing) Ajay Jain and EESL CEO Vishal Kapoor on implementation of energy efficiency measures in AP Housing Scheme, CEO-EESL said that EESL is committed to mainstreaming energy efficiency and becoming the world’s largest Working towards implementing Energy. efficiency portfolio.

“After due consultation with the Housing Department for finalizing the financial model, EESL will enter into an MoU with AP State Housing Corporation Limited (APSHCL) for the supply of these equipment. APSEEDCO, a joint venture with AP Power Utilities, will act as the project management consultancy,” said Vishal Kapoor.

Special Chief Secretary (Housing) Ajay Jain said that the housing department is making its best efforts to provide quality electricity infrastructure in YSR Jagannath Colonies.

“The state government wants to provide modern energy to the beneficiaries which can improve their living conditions and expand their economic opportunities. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is committed to provide dignified housing to the beneficiaries”, said Ajay Jain.
