The decision in this regard was taken by everyone on Saturday. Resident Welfare Association (RWA) and Citizen Welfare Association Panchkula gathered under the banner of Haryana State HUDA Sectors Confederation (HSHSC), an umbrella organization.
The meeting was presided over by HSHSC State Convenor Yashveer Malik and former Army Chief General VP Malik was the chief guest at the meeting held at Panchkula.
All the participants in the meeting expressed serious concern about the structural safety of the buildings adjacent to the plots having stilt plus four floors, which are under threat due to frequent cracks emerging. It also came to the fore that human lives are being put at risk, resulting in frequent daily brawls between plot owners/residents in all urban estates of the state.
Many residents pointed out how natural wind and sunlight have become the reason for the plots/buildings having stilt plus four floors.
Many residents of Panchkula, especially women residents pointed out how the construction of these floors in the sector is creating trouble, as people have demolished their houses to make four floors in Panchkula to earn money through floor-wise sales. started breaking.
Addressing the gathering, Yashveer Malik pointed out how the Haryana Building Code was suddenly amended in 2017 without consulting the RWAs to benefit some section of builders in Gurugram. Malik informed that the next state level meeting of HSHSC is scheduled on January 29 at Panipat, in which a final decision will be taken on launching a statewide agitation to withdraw the policy providing stilt plus four storey floors in HSVP sectors. He also made it clear that the federation would approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court in view of the recent judgment given by the Supreme Court in the Chandigarh case.
Former Army chief General VP Malik also appealed to the RWAs to prepare for a decisive fight on the issue so that the next general does not suffer.
“After the judgment of the Supreme Court in the Chandigarh case, I am hopeful that if the people of the State of Haryana unite against the indiscriminate construction of floors in HSVP sectors, residential areas can be saved from becoming a concrete jungle. It should be understood that we had not bought plots in HSVP sectors for such floors. It is high time that we should go to court and I will extend all assistance in this fight,” Malik said.
Mohinder Singh Balhara, the organizer of the event, said that they have come to know that a Gurgaon-based civic welfare body has approached the High Court on the issue and soon after examining their plea, they will order an immediate stay on the approval of the building plan.
