The RWAs under the banner of Residents Welfare Council have urged the HSVP administrator to frame a uniform policy for the city and convene a joint meeting of sector RWAs, MCG, GMDA and Gurugram Police.
Lalit Suraj Bhola, general secretary of the Sector 9A RWA, said, “Unlike private builder colonies, we are not authorized to collect maintenance charges or raise any bills and we have no resources to keep guards. First these facts should be taken into account which may prove to be adverse in terms of safety of the residents.”
“In fact, the police advise RWAs to put up gates to maintain law and order. HSVP should either provide funds for managing the gates or pay for the guards,” he said.
The RWA also insisted on building boundary walls around the areas as anti-social elements take advantage of the open access. Malkhan Singh, RWA president, Sector 23A, said, “Most of the gates are not put up by the RWAs, but by the residents of the street or pocket themselves for their own safety or convenience. We can neither fight the residents nor open the gates for them, nor do we have the means to keep guards. It is not possible to implement such an instruction on the ground.”
