Pune: The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Maharera) on Monday directed to display the QR code of all registered housing projects, along with their registration number, in all advertisements or social media displays from August 1.
The authority started issuing QR codes to registered projects in March. A homebuyer can scan the QR code and get important information about the project, such as date of commencement and completion, details of any complaints registered, apart from necessary approvals. Also, amendments to approved plans and project renewals are also included in the QR code. Nearly 40,000 projects are registered with Maharera,
“Instead of calling the builder or even visiting the developer’s website, homebuyers will be able to scan the QR code of any housing project and get instant information,” said one. Rare Officer. From August 1, these QR codes, along with the MahaRERA number and website, should be displayed prominently in all advertisements related to housing projects, an official said.
A circular issued by MahaRERA stressed the need to prominently display the QR code in all project-related advertisements on various media platforms, including newspapers, electronic media and social media channels such as Instagram, Twitter and WhatsApp.
This streamlined approach is aimed at empowering customers to make informed decisions regarding their property investments.
MahaRERA officials said that under the RERA Act, developers are required to update project information on their website every 3 to 6 months. An important document showing the current status of the project, total cost and other relevant details, Form 5 is mandatory to be uploaded on the website of the project annually. The introduction of QR codes simplifies the process for users, allowing them to easily access information from the comfort of their homes.
“Implementation of QR code will help homebuyers and investors as earlier many developers were not displaying the registration number as well as the website address of MahaRERA.
It was difficult for citizens to access the information uploaded on the website. The QR code will give advanced search to the public,” said Maharashtra Ramesh Prabhu, president of the Social Welfare Association.
