Lucknow: Cases of disputes arising between the new occupants and Resident Welfare Association On payment of maintenance charges in apartments constructed by RWAs Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) is expected to be resolved soon.
The LDA, after a meeting with the RWAs on Saturday, formed a committee to draft a policy to address this.
“The committee will be headed by LDA secretary Pawan Gangwar and deputy secretaries will also participate. LDA Finance Controller Deepak Singh said the committee has been tasked to resolve the problems by May 15.
As per the rules, the LDA first maintains the apartments for three years after the sale of the flat and thereafter the maintenance rests with the RWA. Many apartments in LDA where RWAs are present are lying vacant. Now when the LDA registers the vacant flat, the RWA refuses to give possession to the new occupants till the maintenance charges are paid. The RWA cited a previous order issued by PN Singh, former vice-chairman of the LDA, which stated that the maintenance should be given to the RWA.
New occupiers often approach the LDA on this as the authority collects maintenance charges from the allottees even before registry.
The committee will submit the final decision after the urban local body election results as the LDA secretary is posted on election duty.
