Ludhiana: Taking strict action against illegal construction, the Municipal Corporation (MC) on Thursday demolished four commercial Buildings are being constructed without approval in the areas falling under Zone-D of Municipal Corporation.
Action has been taken against three buildings Model Town Extension and in one Model Town Gol Market, as they were violating the building bylaws. Illegal portions of these buildings have been demolished.
Superintending Engineer cum Town Planner (MTP) Sanjay Kanwar said that during regular field inspection it was found that buildings were being constructed illegally.
After this, a demolition drive was carried out on the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Shena Aggarwal and illegal parts of the buildings were demolished on Thursday.
Kanwar further said that regular action is being taken against illegal constructions and this campaign will continue in the coming days as well. He said that the residents are urged to get the building plans approved by the civic body and construct the buildings as per the rules, otherwise strict action will be taken against them.
Recently, the Local Government Department had issued instructions to the Municipal Corporation that no new building should be constructed without the approval of the building plan, so that illegal construction could be banned.
There are many complaints about the rapid growth of illegal structures in the city and on the basis of these complaints some vigilance inquiries are also being made.
