In his police complaint, Sundar Singh He has claimed that he came to know about the alleged fraud three days ago when he received a call from a person named Rajesh Lavat, “Lavat told me that he bought this flat also in 2019, while I am living here with my family since 2018. I paid Rs 40 lakh to the builder for the first floor flat.”
Lavat, a Hisar-based jeweller, told TOI that he had bought seven flats in the same society in view of the Jewar International Airport and other upcoming projects in the city. “I have all the documents related to the flat, including the builder-buyer agreement. I have made all the payments to the builder for this flat.”
Spread over four towers, the society houses over 300 residents. Many fear that the builder may sell the same flat to more than one person if the registries are pending.
Rupesh Singh, another resident of the society, said, “The main reason behind all this forgery is the non-registration of the flats.”
said another resident Rajni Rana. “I am living in this flat since 2018. And in 2019, an unknown person knocked on our door and said that our flat is his. He asked us for our flat documents but we didn’t give him any. We later picked up .Problem with the builder who immediately said there had been some confusion.”
Police said they will register an FIR in the matter after conducting a detailed investigation.
When contacted by TOI, the developer has denied the allegations. “There is no doubt that the flat in question belongs to the person who is living there. We have not sold it to any other party.”
