Chandigarh Housing Board notifies need-based changes for housing units

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Housing Board ,chb) on Tuesday notified several need-based changes for its residential units.

These relaxations pertain to norms relating to construction of lifts, additional doors, interior alterations, façade painting, front and rear courtyards, water tank capacity and temporary sheds.

Over 4.5 lakh urban residents living in CHB allotted houses are likely to benefit from the exemption, which has come into effect after the notification.

The CHB notification follows the recommendations of the CHB Committee constituted in September 2021 on need-based changes, headed by the CHB Secretary. Most of its recommendations, submitted in July last year, were approved by the UT administration in November.

Now, after the approval of the Chief Administrator (UT Finance Secretary), the CHB has notified the need-based changes approved by the UT.

“We welcome the notification of change of base permitted by the CHB allowing much relief. But still, without allowing one-time settlement for the changes made to the storey line and building line in CHB flats, the issue of so-called violations remains unresolved,” said Hitesh Puri, chairman, Crafted,
