Pune: Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said on Thursday that the government was planning to start a single window system For approval of ongoing housing projects for redevelopment and implementation self-development The order issued in September 2019 when he was the CM.
Out of around 1.20 lakh registered cooperative societies and over 80,000 apartments, around 60,000 units are more than 30 years old and want to go for redevelopment. The Maharashtra State Housing Association had demanded a simple process for their redevelopment.
There is likely to be a meeting between the members of the Housing Federation and the CM Eknath Shinde and his deputy, Fadnavis, next week. “The plan is to make the redevelopment process for private housing societies with a single window system for clearances as per the demand of housing societies and federations,” Fadnavis said in response to a text message from TOI.
The members of the federation said that the government proposal issued in September 2019 on self-redevelopment of housing societies remained on paper. On self-redevelopment of societies, Fadnavis said the earlier order would be implemented in letter and spirit.
Suhas Patwardhan, vice-president of the Maharashtra State Cooperative Housing Association, said they were demanding an easier process for the redevelopment. “A notification was issued but it was not implemented. The issue of funding also needs to be addressed,” he said.
