15k small flat allottees owed ₹50 cr, asked to pay in 10 days, ET Real Estate

Chandigarh: Out of total 16,000 small flat allottees, 15,273 have dues. Chandigarh Housing Board ,chb) rent arrears of over Rs 50 crore, prompting the board to issue a warning to deposit within 10 days or face eviction.

The board has canceled the allotment of 68 small flat allottees due to unauthorized occupants.

The flats are located in Sector 49, 56, 38 (West), Dhanas, Industrial Area. Mauli Jagran, Ram Darbar, Maloya (Small Flat) and Maloya (ARHC).

CHB CEO Yashpal Garg said, “Some allottees are not paying the monthly license fee on a regular basis. The list of dues of the allottees has been uploaded on the website of CHB. The dues can be paid online through the CHB website www(dot)chbonline(dot)in and at any of the Contact Centres.

In case of cancellation of allotment, the occupier of the flat will be evicted. Further, for restoration of allotment, the allottee will have to prove his/her bona fides and clear all pending dues along with applicable interest and pay revival charges.

CHB has allotted around 16000 flats under Small Flat Scheme and around 2000 flats under Affordable Rental Housing Complex Scheme. These flats are allotted on monthly license fee for the occupation of the allottees and their families and these flats cannot be sold/sub-rented/transferred/transferred to other persons.

“Allottees, who have illegally sold/sub-rented/transferred the flats and the purchaser both are liable to face action for cheating/cheating/forgery etc. Persons who have been appointed as property dealers/document writers/intermediaries like Called by whatever name called /Property Consultant/Facilitator/Financier, who is involved in illegal transaction of sale/sub-let/transfer of small flats, shall also be prosecuted for being part of criminal conspiracy for such illegal transaction are liable to face,” Garg said.

During the months of June/July 2022, door-to-door surveys were conducted and it was observed that some small flats were occupied by unauthorized persons.
