Bangalore: Thousands of property owners, who were slapped with hefty fines over their alleged tax dues, are still waiting BBMP To withdraw the notices issued to them, they say, was promised by CM Basavaraj Bommai.

Bangalore The Navnirman Party (BNP) said 78,000 property owners in the city were slapped with fines and interest ranging from thousands of rupees to lakhs of rupees.

“We met the CM on March 18 and he said it will be sorted out and we will be connected to BBMP chief commissioner Tushar Giri Nath. We also visited the latter’s office. Both the CM and BBMP officials discussed the issue over the next few days. Will be resolved,” said Lalitamba Beevi, Head of Operations, BNP, who is in touch with the aggrieved citizens.

BNP co-founder and general secretary Srikanth Narasimhan said he did not know what prompted the BBMP to publish a note on its website asking citizens not to worry.

Girinath said: “The matter was pending with the government and we were not informed. With the election code of conduct in force, we are not in a position to discuss it further.”
