Madurai: Two commercial Buildings sealed in Madurai city limits Madurai Corporation officers for non-payment property tax for many years. The total outstanding of these two buildings was Rs 7.1 lakh.
The first building is located in Ward 72 of Zone V Thiruparankundram Road and is owned by three people. The owners had not paid property tax since 2014-15 and the outstanding amount for the last nine years stood at ₹ 5.7 lakh.
There is also another building in the same ward. The owner has not paid property tax of 1.4 lakhs for the last six years from 2017-18.
Property owners have been served notices and have been personally contacted several times by the officials. The owner was not paying the tax despite reminders, so the building was sealed.
