Thiruvananthapuram: The government has taken a U-turn on its earlier decision to tax the vacant houses of NRIs or those who have more than one house in the state.

The proposal to impose an additional tax on such houses in the last state budget had drawn widespread criticism. The minister also received several representations from various NRI organizations against the proposal.
