Noida: The Noida Authority The city has written to 17 technical institutes like IITs and CBRI to conduct structural audit of buildings.
In November last year, the authority’s board had passed a structural audit policy for multi-storey buildings and made it mandatory for developers to submit a report after a probe by an empaneled body. The policy states that this report will be mandatory for obtaining full or partial occupancy certificate.
But for existing buildings, the onus was on the developer or the AOA to get the structural audit done. If defects are reported by at least 25% of the home buyers of a particular society within five years of receiving the occupancy certificate, a committee constituted by the Authority will examine the complaints and decide whether the defects are minor or major. are or not Social class.
If the defects are major then the concerned builder will have to get the structural audit done and they will have to be repaired. If irregularities are reported after five years of receiving the OC, the AoA will have to intervene and conduct an audit.
Officials said that though the authority had written to 17 institutions to become empaneled members of the audit team, seven of them have given their consent so far. These include IIT-Kanpur, MNIT Prayagraj, bits pilani, NIT Jaipur And CBRI-Roorkee, among others. Officials said the authority will implement the policy from next month after all the institutes come on board.
“We have sought consent from reputed institutions across the country to be empaneled for structural audit. The developer or the AoA, whoever is responsible for the management of the highrise apartment, can approach any of these institutions and get a structural audit done after paying a fee, said an official.
He, however, clarified that the fee would be decided between the developer or the AoA and the institute and the authority would have no role in it.
