Jharkhand cm Hemant Soren Met the Union Rural Development Minister on Monday Giriraj Singh To take the approval for houses pending under PM Awas Yojana for the state.

Soren said that 629,447 houses under the PM Awas Gramin scheme were pending approval from the Union Ministry of Rural Development.

Besides, the information of 207,775 households was not entered in the list due to errors in data entry and hence the central government should facilitate the verification and approval of these beneficiaries, he said.

Soren has been raising this issue for a long time. In November last year, he had written to the rural development minister requesting, among other things, to allocate physical targets of the PM Awas Gramin Yojana for 2022-23 to the state.

On Monday, he met the minister in Delhi and made the request. Sources in the state government told ET that Singh assured the CM that he would look into the matter.

“We had a positive discussion on Rural Development Ministry’s schemes and outlay for the state, MGNREGA and 15th Finance Commission,” Soren said after the meeting.

Singh said various rural development schemes like PM Awas, PM Gram Sadak Yojana and MNREGA were discussed and the central government is committed to the development of rural Jharkhand.
