Chandigarh: The Indian Air Force (IAF) will construct about 190 new houses after demolishing the existing old IAF houses in Sector 31 and 47.
A meeting chaired by UT Home Secretary Nitin Yadav was held here on Friday to resolve the long pending issues of construction of houses for IAF personnel in Sector 31 and 47.
Chief Administrative Officer, Air Force Station Chandigarh Group Capt. Kapil Galliani Led the team of IAF and MES officers.
“The units will come up in Sectors 31 and 47 after the demolition of the existing houses of the IAF. The houses of the IAF personnel were constructed in the 1960s. Now, these will be constructed in stilt-plus-two format,” said an official.
The IAF will submit detailed plans with the administration for approval. “All issues related to the housing of defense personnel were discussed and the home secretary cleared all nods to complete the construction of around 192 houses,” the official said.
