Gurugram: a group of inhabitants of BPTP Astaire Garden Met the Deputy Commissioner in Sector 70A Nishant Yadav On Friday, there was a claim of “harassment by the developer”. He alleged that the maintenance agency of the developer disconnected the electricity connection of around 30 flats without issuing any notice.

One of the complainants, Jaswant Singh, said the agency cited maintenance shutdown and disconnected the power supply around 10 am on Friday. “The power backup was also disconnected. The developer has been troubling residents by disconnecting electricity, claiming pending common area maintenance (CAM) charges. I was issued an electricity bill of Rs 92,000 for May, which I protested, but instead of settling the matter, they disconnected my electricity supply.

After the complaint, the Deputy Commissioner formed a three-member inquiry committee to investigate the matter. A police complaint was also filed against the developer on Friday. The representative of the developer has denied the allegations and stated that the residents have defaulted in electricity bill payment and prior notice has been issued as per norms.

When contacted, Rohit Mohan, Senior Vice President, BPTP Group said, “Disconnection is done only due to non-payment of electricity dues, if any, as per procedure. Several notices are duly given before disconnecting any such connection. We would urge the residents to pay the necessary bills for the resumption of services.

A senior DHBVN official said that the agency has enforced shutdown in the society for internal maintenance. “The matter also came to our notice and upon investigation it was found that it was an internal matter between the maintenance agency and the residents. There was no supply issue from our side.
