file photoNoida: The Noida Authority Six flat-cum-shops were demolished in Sector 78 on Friday Space Golf View 1 Society. The operation was suspended after the builder’s representatives tried to stop the demolition and clashed with Noida officials.
The structures, officials said, were constructed without mandatory approval from the competent authority and in violation of the original building plan and the stilts of three towers-A, B and C were in the area.
Noida’s enforcement team punched holes in partition walls and broke doors and windows to start the demolition process in the evening. Officials claimed that the operation was disrupted when representatives of the builder created a ruckus, which led to the scuffle.
Noida officials have filed a complaint against the builder at the local police station alleging obstruction of duty and assault on officials.
“Due to the serious nature of the illegal construction, the enforcement team tore down partition walls and broke doors and windows. However, these were not completely demolished as representatives of the builder stormed the site,” said a Noida authority official.
Meanwhile, the police claimed that they had no prior information about the operation. Noida officials, however, claimed that a letter was sent by the Additional Chief Executive Officer (ACEO) to the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) on Thursday, requesting police presence during the operation.
Before starting the demolition on Friday, the team also visited the police station to ensure police assistance.
Space Golf View 1, which houses 1,200 families, has been under scrutiny for some time. 72 flats have allegedly been illegally constructed by the builder in the slit parking area, out of which the demolition of 32 has been stayed by the court order.
In May 2022, Noida sealed 11 more flats within the society following complaints of illegal construction in the stilt parking area. Some residents alleged that the building layout plan of the society showed 217 stilt parking slots, raising concerns about unauthorized structures.
The official said that a demolition drive was launched against the remaining 29 illegal flats on Friday.
In Antriksh Golf View 2 too flats have been built illegally on the stilt parking space.
Efforts to reach the developer for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
