file photoVijayawada : Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Tidco will inaugurate the housing colony and hand over the flats to the beneficiaries Gudiwada City Of Krishna District on Friday.
About 8,912 flats have been constructed in the last four years at an estimated cost of Rs 178 crore. The TIDCO colony was spread over about 77 acres of land in the town.
The construction work of another 4,500 houses adjacent to Tidco Colony is in progress. The government has given 7,728 house plots in an extent of about 178.63 acres under the Pedalanadiki Illu Navaratnalu scheme, of which construction of about 45,000 is nearing completion. The name of this colony will be YSR Jagannath Housing Colony.
“The CM will formally hand over 8,912 flats to the beneficiaries today. We are giving away all flats with 300 sqft for only 1,” said former minister and local MLA Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao (Nani).
Housing Minister Jogi Ramesh informed that they have completed the construction of around 1,43,600 flats of 300 sq.ft, which have been given to the beneficiaries for just ₹1. He said that women beneficiaries have received relief of about Rs 9,406 crore.
He said the previous Naidu regime had designed the scheme in a way where poor women beneficiaries had to pay Rs 3,000 every month for 20 years.
He said the CM had given a straight 50% rebate on advance contribution for 365 sqft and 430 sqft houses and the government would provide Rs 25,000 each to 44,304 beneficiaries of 365 sqft houses and Rs 50,000 to each of the 74,312 beneficiaries of 430 sqft houses. Tidco House 482 crore as a rebate of 50% in the upfront contribution to be paid by the beneficiaries, bearing a burden of Rs.
