Bangalore: The Greater Bangalore Municipal Corporation All set to continue its anti-encroachment drive and demolish 110 properties Mahadevpura and KR Puram in the next 15 days.
BBMP chief commissioner Tushar Giri Nath Told the media on Thursday that Tehsildar has issued eviction orders to demolish 110 properties and directed the concerned officials to complete the exercise within 15 days.
He said the eviction drive would start from Saturday. The anti-encroachment drive was put on hold for a few weeks as BBMP officials and the Tehsildar of Bengaluru Urban district were busy with the May 10 assembly elections.
“We have recently sanctioned around 25 properties in Mahadevapura and KR Puram. We have identified properties in 571 survey numbers that have encroached on storm water drains. These are 118 more properties on which stay orders have been obtained from the court. Till Thursday morning, we had received orders to vacate properties in 110 survey numbers.
He said that soon after the BBMP receives the eviction orders, the drive will continue for other survey numbers.
According to officials, the anti-encroachment drive involves coordination between BBMP, revenue department and surveyors. Survey Department issues orders for eviction of encroached properties and tehsildars of Bengaluru Urban. Officials said that Palik has started following due process before starting the eviction work to avoid unnecessary hassles.
Some of the encroachers had approached the court against the eviction work, claiming that the Palika was not following the procedure, as soon as relevant surveys are conducted by the Assistant Director of Land Records and demolition orders are issued by Tehsildars, Encroachments are removed, he said.
