Pune: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde 100% waiver on additional development charges to be levied and collected in Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) with retrospective effect for the period from July 2018 to April 2023, providing relief to area, builders and individual landlords.

Proposal was placed before the CM on Wednesday PMRDA Annual budget meeting. The CM is the chairman of the authority’s committee.

According to PMRDA officials, due to the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar to Pune Metro Line 3, an additional development fee of Rs 332 crore was to be collected from those who got permission to construct buildings in this area spread over 6,000 sq km.

While the CM directed that the enhanced additional development charges be waived off for this five-year period, he also directed the officials to explore the feasibility of levying additional development charges zone-wise uniformly for the current year .

PMRDA officials said that citizens will no longer be required to pay additional development charges Maharashtra The Regional Town Planning Act, which prescribes such charges for important transportation projects. The Act allows the authority to collect 100% of the additional development charges levied on construction. Similar waiver of double development charges for metro projects was seen in Nagpur and Thane.

On Wednesday, the CM also approved the authority’s budget of Rs 1,926 crore for 2023-24. The authority approved the proposal to be sent to the state for transfer of 2.5 acres of land at Moshi, Pune to the state. Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation ,PCMC), for the construction of a memorial to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The meeting also emphasized on submitting DP to the state before June 20. The budget allocated funds for town planning schemes, infrastructure, housing, metro and ring roads.
