Ludhiana: Civic authorities identify 30,000 property owners who haven’t made their payments property tax for the previous financial year. Now, these property owners will get notices asking them to clear their dues. The authorities have already started serving notices in some areas. In the next two months, the officers will try to recover the outstanding amount from the defaulters. Over 3.55 lakh returns were filed last year.
Meanwhile, the recovery is progressing smoothly in the current year as people get a chance to avail 10% discount on the total amount. The process of distributing notices has started. After the first notice, the officials had to wait for a month before serving the ceiling notice to the defaulters. Municipal officials have earned Rs 125 crore property tax 100 crores in the last financial year against the target of Rs. Now he has set a target of Rs 125 crore.
