Trichy: Tamil Nadu Urban Housing Development Board (TNUHDB) has launched a new residential complex for the Lower Income Group (LIG) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) irungalur near Manachanallur in Trichy.
Chief Minister MK Stalin Inaugurated the project virtually on Monday. District Collector M Pradeep Kumar visited the housing complex and planted indigenous saplings.
Officials said that the residential complex of the second phase TNUHDB 240 housing units have been built in 21.1 crores. The complex, designed for the urban poor, consists of 10 blocks, each containing 24 units. Each dwelling unit has a bedroom, hall, kitchen, bathroom and toilet, all built over a floor area of 400 square feet.
TNUHDB has a Phase I residential complex with 540 housing units in the same area which was fully occupied. As there was a demand, Phase II was proposed as an expansion project.
“Allotment of units to the beneficiaries for the second phase has not been done yet. We have started a special camp for issuing applications to the aspirants. An official said that the annual income of the applicant should be less than 3 lakhs and they should not have their own house.
