Ludhiana: The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (MC) is planning to launch Unique Asset Identification (UPID) cards from April 1. Residents will be able to use this UPID card as a No Objection Certificate (NOC), which is required at the time of sale and purchase of properties.
The municipal officials have completed the formalities and also demonstrated the machines procured for this.
Interested residents can avail this card by paying a nominal fee of Rs 50, which is similar to an ATM card. The basic purpose of this card is to give the ID of their records to the property holders.
Residents can apply through both online and offline modes and it will be issued if they have cleared all their dues like property tax, water supply, sewerage and settlement charges. They can either take a printout or get a hard card made by paying Rs 50 at the facility. The MC General House had given its approval to this facility during its meeting held on February 10.
Municipal officials claimed that the UPID cards would help in catching defaulters of various taxes.
mc superintendent Vivek Verma “We are planning to start this facility from the next financial year (April 1),” he said. We have completed the formalities and performed. He said that there is a plan to convert this card into a wallet for paying for MC related services.
Meanwhile, the MC is planning to conduct a fresh survey of total properties in the city. But the permission of senior officials is still awaited for this. The authorities had planned a new GIS-based survey of properties in the city to nab defaulters who never paid their dues.
Officials claimed that under this survey, they were planning to seek answers to around 30 to 35 questions, which included basic information about the owners and details of the area covered by the property.
