Gurugram: Enforcement Team of Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has cleared 12 acres of prime agricultural land by demolishing five illegal colonies.
During the demolition drive, the team brought down unauthorized structures, network of roads and boundary wall. The officials also directed the locals not to invest in such colonies without checking their status with the department.
District Town Planner (Enforcement) Manish Yadav Demolition operations were carried out in five unauthorized colonies with the help of police force.
“The two unauthorized colonies in Gaushala Colony are four acres in the revenue property of the village Farrukhnagar Demolished in Gurgaon. Around 10 unauthorized structures were demolished along with 700 meters of road network and 150 meters of boundary wall.
A two-acre unauthorized colony in Revenue Estate, Farrukhnagar, Urban Area where nine structures along with road network and boundary wall were demolished. In two more unauthorized colonies of 6.5 acres near Savera College, 17 structures and a network of roads were completely demolished.
According to officials, people gathered at the site during the demolition were told not to invest their hard earned money in such unauthorized colonies and that they should approach the DTP’s office for any query before purchasing the land.
As per the DTCP’s complaint, the land falls within the limits of the urban area of Gurgaon. “Section 3 of Act No. 8 of 1975 provides that before building a colony in an urban area the land owner shall obtain a license from the competent authority. Section 7(i) of the Act of 1975 provides for sub- The subdivision prohibits the intention of partition. Section 7(ii) prohibits construction in a colony for which a license has not been granted under Section 3 of the 1975 Act,” reads the complaint.
Yadav said that violation/violation of Section 3, 7(i), 7(ii) of the 1975 Act and the rules made is an offense punishable with imprisonment of up to 3 years, therefore the police should immediately stop the development of those colonies , should investigate the matter and during the course of investigation register an FIR against the offenders (both the developer as well as the land owners) as well as others whose names are linked to the above mentioned offence.
