Noida: Around 300 residents of various housing societies participated in a “symbolic” hunger strike at Murti Chowk to protest against the delay in registering their houses. Noida Extension The agitation has entered the 13th week on Sunday.
The residents said that the issue has been dragging on for the last six or seven years, and they will continue their protest every Sunday and sit on an indefinite hunger strike if necessary. According to him, thousands of residents across the city are suffering from delays related to registry and possession.

Abhishek Kumar, president of New Era Flat Owners Welfare Association, told TOI, “We will not bow down to pressure from the builder-administration circle and will end the agitation only if our demands are met.” Kumar said that every week more and more people are joining this cause.
The protesters said that many builders currently owe huge dues to the Noida Authority, and hence their registry cannot proceed. Nidhi Saxena, a homebuyer said, “We have paid lakhs to the builder, but we have not been able to register our flats. Some are yet to get possession of their homes.”
