Kochi: even more Cochin Development Authority ,gcda) has revised the deadline life mission housing project on own land Mundamveli For rehabilitation of P&T Colony residents due to slow work progress.
The project has already missed several deadlines in the last four years and the last one was December 31. However, only about 70% of the project has been completed so far, forcing the authorities to set April 30 as the new deadline.
The plan is to build 86 apartments and there will be 82 beneficiaries of the project. Four units will be used for setting up crèche, reading room etc. There will be two blocks of buildings and each will have four floors. Deck sheet concrete is used for the floors in each floor, while the building itself has a steel structure.
GCDA sources said the structural erection of Block 2 has been completed and the remaining works, including plumbing and electrical work, are progressing rapidly. Block 2 will be completed by the end of January. The structural erection of Block 1 is in the middle and around 14 tonnes of steel material has been piled at the site and the structure will be erected from the end of this week.
“Jeevan Mission is giving about Rs 9 crore in installments out of total Rs 14 crore and till now about Rs 4 crore has been received. A proposal has been sent to Jeevan Mission to get approval for the allocation of the next installment of Rs 2 crore. Work is in progress but at a slow pace,” said an official.
Earlier, the work was delayed as the contractor Thrissur District Labor Contract Cooperative Society (TDLCCS) was reportedly struggling to raise funds. However, this issue has been resolved.
“We are hopeful that the project will be completed by April,” the official said.
