Kolkata: City Based Ambuja Neotia Group emerged as the highest bidder for a 10-acre plot in nonadanga‘s square area near EM bypass In Thursday’s e-auction, the group offered bids of about Rs 260 crore (about Rs 26 crore per acre) for the land to be sold on freehold basis for residential and/or commercial use.

The initial bid price for the 10-acre land was fixed at Rs 177.2 crore. The e-auction was conducted by the Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation.Hidko, Sources in the real estate sector said there were two bidders for the premises/holding No. 826, Plot No. 651 (Part), Mauza Nondanga, Jl. No. 10, Chaubhaga under KMC Ward 108.

CREDAI West Bengal President Sushil Mohta said, “It is a very good step by the state government and the result is better than our expectation.” Ambuja Group declined to comment on the development as it has not been officially announced by the state government.

Since 2006, parcels of land are available in the city at high prices. That year, when the KMDA sold a 6.2-acre plot off EM Bypass to a real estate company for Rs 209 crore for a hotel project, it broke all previous land sale records.

Next in line is a 7.4-acre plot on BL Saha Road (under Behala Police Station) in KMC Ward 117, which is to be auctioned on January 20. It is planned that this land will be given on lease only for 99 years. For residential purpose. The initial bid price has been kept at Rs 125 crore.

Government officials said that after a gap of several years, the city is witnessing a huge growth in the real estate market. The state government is trying to earn revenue through transfer of land on freehold basis. Earlier this year, a 5.6-acre plot in Alipore fetched over Rs 400 crore. In Rajarhat too, a bid of Rs 203 crore was made for 6.2 acres of land.
