GurugramAmid the ongoing controversy over the demolition of its buildings and refund of residents’ money, the Chintels builder has said it will take another opinion on the structural strength of the building before taking a final decision. The builder said this in a mail sent to the society’s RWA.

It said it has held preliminary discussions with Central Building Research Institute ,CBRI) and Engineers India Limited (EIL) for another structural audit to obtain a second opinion.

Following the mail, the RWA approached the district administration seeking its intervention in the matter.

“You are informed that we have repeatedly requested the Department of Town and Country Planning for copies of the actual lab test results on which the IIT has based its conclusion,” Chintels vice-chairman JN Yadav said in the mail.

“Till date, no response has been received, in the absence of which we are unable to take any concrete decision to proceed further. We have held preliminary discussions with CBRI and EIL to conduct another structural audit to obtain a second opinion. ” Said this.

The builder said it believes all towers have been affected Chintel Paradiso are repairable as there are many techniques/methods being used around the world to restore old buildings and buildings with similar problems.

“We believe that it would be unwise to rush and destroy a beautiful project, based on an unfounded report from any organization, without exploring any other possible options.

“Since most of the residents of Paradiso have expressed their desire to continue living there, we believe that in the interest of all stakeholders a second audit should be conducted by a more credible and transparent agency such as CBRI and EIL or any other competent international agency. agency, so that the project can still be saved,” it said in the mail.

RWA president Rakesh Hooda termed the builder’s attitude as “insensitive and inhuman”.

JN Yadav, when contacted by PTI, said they are seeking a second opinion, as the IIT has so far failed to provide the actual test reports, and accused the premier technical institute of “hiding facts”. “Without the report how can we come to the conclusion of the demolition.”

DC Nishant Kumar Yadav said: “There is no need for a second opinion as IIT is a trustworthy agency. We will give them a report, but they will have to follow the order.”

Chintels are being asked to demolish their buildings in Chintels Paradiso Society in Sector 109 after two people died when the sixth floor of its Tower-D collapsed in February this year.
