The issue was also raised by the corporators in the general body meeting of GHMC last week. To which, GHMC chief town planner Devendra Reddy admitted that most of the fire accidents were taking place in commercial establishments at a height of less than 15 metres.
“Since there is no fire NOC provision for these buildings, we are not insisting. Most of the fire accidents in the recent past were in buildings less than 15 meters in height. Fire accidents do not happen in tall buildings because regularly If there is a fire, conduct an audit,” Reddy said. He also said that the government would soon come out with a notification regarding the new policy.
