A senior official of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) said that seven FIRs have been registered in connection with illegal plotting in the Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR) and 15 more will be registered next week.
The official said there has been no let up in the drive to keep a check on illegal structures in the PMR spread over 6,000 sq km. An official of the urban development department said, “Check on illegal construction is possible if all the departments work in one system.” Since 2015, the number of illegal structures identified in the PMR is around 8,018. Of these, 283 have been pulled down.

Illegal plotting is another big issue. “Illegal plotting means sub-division of plots into plots without permission,” said an official.
