A total of 290 FIRs are pending against the company and its promoters across the state.
Enforcement DirectorateThe CBI probing the funding of the company and its Lucknow unit had on Sunday attached Shine City’s immovable properties in Lucknow, Mirzapur and Manda worth Rs 56 crore. Since the PMLA case was registered in January 2021, till now the ED has attached assets worth Rs 107 crore of Shine City.
EOW director general RK Vishwakarma told TOI that a letter has been sent to the home ministry through the state home department for Naseem’s extradition from Dubai. “Our intelligence unit was informed about his presence in Dubai,” he said.
DG Vishwakarma said that Naseem was declared a fugitive on October 30, 2021 and later notices were pasted at his residences/establishments and prominent places in the state in Lucknow, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Mirzapur, Varanasi.
Another senior police officer said that Asif, a resident of Prayagraj, formed this real estate firm in 2013 along with his brother Naseem and started business from Lucknow.
“The duo used several schemes to lure investors in real estate and used that money to expand their empire. The company took money from people in the name of giving plots at cheap rates and promised to hand over the possession of the land after a certain time.
“In most cases when the investor approached the company for possession after maturity, they forced the investor to invest in some other scheme. After some time people started realizing his fraud and started registering a police case against him. According to rough estimates, 500 FIRs have been registered against the firm in Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar and other states.
On the other hand, the ED said that a PMLA case was registered against the company, its directors, Rasheed Naseem, Asif Nafees, Javed Iqbal and others.
ED officials said the real estate firm and its owners were booked for cheating the public at large by luring them to invest in various lucrative schemes launched by the company.
The ED said that Shine City had acquired/sold land at other places in UP, Bihar and West Bengal.
“Collection of data/sale deeds is in progress from the respective property registration authorities to ascertain the details of the land in various districts of UP,” the ED said.
