Tamil Nadu CM says Tidal Park to be set up in Madurai

madurai, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced on Friday that a Tidal Park to be established in Madurai city.

Addressing the South Zone Industrial Conference in Madurai, Stalin expressed hope that the proposed Tidal Park would provide infrastructure for information technology and fintech companies. He said this would boost Madurai’s industrial development and create 10,000 jobs in the city.

He recalled how the first Tidal Park started by the then Chief Minister M Karunanidhi was a result of the IT revolution in Chennai. Similarly the state government is setting up with the help of Tidel Tidal Neo (Mini IT Parks) to expand IT development to Tier II cities of Tamil Nadu in Coimbatore, Ooty, Vellore, Tiruppur, Villupuram, Tuticorin, Salem and Thanjavur.

He said that the Madurai City Corporation and Tidel will form a special purpose vehicle for setting up this pioneering IT park at Mattuthavani in Madurai. It will be implemented in two phases. Phase I will be set up on five acres of land with a project outlay of Rs 600 crore. He said that in the second phase also five acres of land would be constructed.

He said that the Tidal Park will create the necessary infrastructure for knowledge-based industries as well as for fintech companies in Madurai and the region.

“The state government executes the projects in such a way that they will generate industrial development in the region,” he said.
