Andhra Pradesh CM lays foundation stone for housing project in Guntur, ET Real Estate

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy On Monday laid the foundation stone of more than 50,000 houses to be built at a cost of Rs 1,830 crore. Guntur District. Under this, 50,793 houses will be constructed in Krishnayapalem Layout Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana ,PMAY) – YSR BLC (U) Scheme.

Located in Mangalagiri and Tadikonda assembly constituencies, these houses will be constructed as part of 25 layouts in the 1,400-acre Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) area.

Reddy said, “Through this program, I am laying the foundation of a social Amaravati that is for all. From today, this Amaravati will be the Amaravati of all of us.”

Addressing a public meeting at Venkatapalem after laying the foundation stone, the Chief Minister said that all the beneficiaries would be given documents of their houses at 25 counters.

He said that the concerned beneficiaries have been mapped to their volunteers and counters for smooth handing over of the documents.

All the beneficiaries will be photographed of their respective plots of land and will also be geotagged, Reddy said.

According to the CM, the layouts in which these thousands of houses are being built will also have anganwadi centres, schools, shopping centers and parking facilities.

He said that most of the beneficiaries opted for houses to be constructed for them by the government, which is expected to cost Rs 2.75 lakh per unit.

The CM highlighted that the state government has given 30.75 lakh housing sites to eligible poor people across the state, while 22 lakh houses are under construction at various stages.

He said the foundation stone for the project was laid after overcoming several hurdles and alleged that TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, Jana Sena founder Pawan Kalyan and others tried to stall the program by moving courts.

Describing him as anti-poor, he said 18 cases were filed in the High Court and five in the Supreme Court against distribution of houses to the poor and added that he managed to win the legal battle to go ahead with the project.

The Chief Minister said that he is moving forward with the help of God and laying the foundation of their houses, terming the ceremony as a victory of the poor.

Apart from laying the foundation stone, Reddy also inspected a model house.
