IIT finds Chantels Paradiso Tower 5 in Gurgaon unsafe, likely to be vacated ET Real Estate

Gurugram: Fifth Tower Chintels ParadisoWhere the vertical collapse of five flats killed two residents in February 2022, it has been found unsafe to live in by experts. IIT-DelhiWhich has been brought in by the government for a structural audit of the complex.

In the latest audit report, Tower H has been declared unsafe and the administration can issue an order to vacate it.

As of now, towers D, E, F and G have been declared unsafe by the institute and the district administration has issued orders to evacuate residents under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. Owners have been offered refunds.

Towers B and C have also been declared safe for the time being in the IIT-Delhi report submitted to the district administration on Wednesday. However, the institute recommended annual structural audits of both these towers to monitor the level of deterioration due to corrosion and the presence of chlorides in the concrete.

Earlier, the IIT-Delhi team had recommended an annual structural audit for Tower A, which is showing signs of deterioration. The audit report of Tower J is still awaited.

Deputy commissioner Nishant Yadav Said that a committee headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner would soon share the structural audit report and make it public.
