Ranchi: More than 100 beneficiaries of the Light House Project (poor poor family) which is part of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in (urban) Dhurvaprotested outside Ranchi Municipal Corporation The office expressed concern on Friday over the quality of construction and materials as a block of the building collapsed on July 10.

The project is in its final stages, with the company expected to complete 1,008 houses by June 30 next year and hand them over to the urban development department, according to the SGC magistrate.

But, 340 beneficiaries have not yet deposited their share amount. The protesters handed over a memorandum to the municipal commissioner, urging him to make public the quality report of the project and use better construction materials.

Sudhir Tiwari, chairman of the beneficiary committee, said, “There is a growing concern among the beneficiaries that the poor families living in the project may become victims of any unfortunate event in the future, especially after part of the building collapses. Tiwari questions Who will be held responsible if hundreds of families start living in the project if such an incident happens.”

Assistant Administrator Sheetal Kumari said, “The RMC team, in collaboration with the Directorate of Municipal Administration, will investigate the matter. The team will ensure that the problem is resolved and repairs are completed at the earliest.”
