Gurugram: Cracking down on illegal dumping of C&D waste in the city, the MCG on Thursday slapped a challan of Rs 1.1 crore on the developer of Platinum Tower in Sector 28 for dumping construction waste on the master stormwater drain adjacent to the greenbelt.

According to a senior MCG official, 12,881 metric tonnes of C&D waste has been generated and dumped illegally in the greenbelt area.

The MCG will recover over Rs 92 lakh from the developer for lifting and disposing of the debris, while 20% of the assessed amount, which is over Rs 18 lakh, is the fine they have to pay for illegally dumping construction waste. Will happen. Recently, GMDA and MCG Chief PC Meena Instructed the officials to increase their vigil against illegal dumping of C&D waste across the city.

“The C&D waste debris dumped in the greenbelt area is blocking storm water drainage. There is a clear instruction for proper disposal of C&D waste, but the developer failed to follow it. That is why we have issued the challan,” said the MCG official.

When contacted, the developer of Platinum Tower declined to comment.

The GMDA took this action after it was found that the drain was blocked, leading to water-logging around IFFCO Chowk Metro Station. In March, the authority had issued a notice to the developer directing it to remove the C&D waste, failing which action would be taken.
