Developers of 107 projects have applied for deregistration from MahaRERA, ET Real Estate

Pune: Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Maharera) has received applications for cancellation of registration for 107 projects including 41 in Pune.

A MahaRERA official said that the earlier number was 88 after which additional 19 new applications for cancellation were received.

So far, there has been no response from the consumers regarding the applications of the developers for deregistration for the earlier 88 proposals. Therefore, the authority has decided to extend the deadline till July 7 for suggestions and objections regarding cancellation of registration of these projects, the official said.

The official said, “We want those who have objections to the cancellation of registration of any of these 107 projects to raise their concerns within the next fortnight at secy@maharera(dot)mahaonline(dot)gov(dot)in submit.” In a circular issued on February 10, MahaRERA announced that registration of non-viable housing projects can be canceled under specific circumstances.

Since then the number of cancellation proposals in Pune has steadily increased from 39 projects to a total of 41 projects by the end of May. The complete list of these projects is available on the MahaRERA website.

Of the 107 projects, 41 are in Pune, 16 in Raigad, 12 in Thane, 6 in Palghar, 5 in Mumbai suburbs, 4 in Mumbai city and 3 each in Sindhudurg, Parbhani, Nashik, Nagpur. Chhatrapati SambhajinagarSatara, KolhapurAlso 2-2 in Nanded, Latur, Ratnagiri, SolapurAnd Dadra Nagar Haveli, Each of these areas is home to a project for which cancellation has been sought.

Many housing projects have failed to materialize due to various reasons like paucity of funds, financial unviability, ongoing court cases, family disputes etc. Additionally, if the cancellation affects other parts of the overall project, MahaRERA provides for 2/3 consent. allocation is required. Further, if there is a demand for cancellation of registration for a project which has minimum registration dues, the same has to be disposed of. Also, there should be no objection from the concerned parties on cancellation.

State Consumer Body Mumbai customer panchayat It has sought cancellation and de-registration of de-listed projects, as announced by MahaRERA earlier this month. However, no response has been received from MahaRERA so far.
