Gurugram: Police have booked directors and several senior officials of a Delhi-based developer on charges of defrauding an investor.

According to the police, many people booked shops Ansal HubA commercial complex in Sector 83 in 2010. Builder, Ansal Housing Ltd. had promised to hand over the possession in 2014 but the properties are yet to be ready.

Gaurav Kalra, one of the investors, said, “Despite having paid 95% of the total amount till 2015, the project has not yet been delivered to anyone. Later, we learned that RERA’s license was valid only till 2013, but the builder continued to violate the law by constructing at the project site. In 2021, we protested against the builder and filed a complaint with the city police commissioner in 2022.

A spokesperson for the developer said, “The project was under arbitration post Covid and eventually Ansal was awarded the task of completing and delivering the project. The work has resumed and is absolutely on track and will be completed soon.. everything will be completed within the stipulated time frame.

After probing the matter, the police on Tuesday registered an FIR against 12 people associated with Ansal – including its board of directors, former directors and members of the marketing and sales team – under sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 406 (criminal breach of trust ) under ) and IPC section 420 (cheating) at Kherki Daula Police Station.

A senior police officer said, “We have registered an FIR and started the investigation.”
