Thane : The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation The civic body on Thursday said it has declared 524 buildings under its jurisdiction as dangerous after a detailed survey in the city limits.
Of these buildings, 61 fall in the C-1 category (most dangerous, unfit for occupation and require immediate demolition), 114 are in the C-2A category (requires evacuation and structural repairs), 300 C-2B in (needs repair without evacuation) and 49 in C-3 (needs minor repair), Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar said in a release.
Electricity and water supply to buildings classified as C-1 will be disconnected immediately. The civic body said that these buildings should be demolished immediately.
The owners and occupants of the dangerous buildings have been asked to vacate the premises so that any accident and loss of life can be avoided, the release said.
It added that those living in buildings of categories other than C-1 need to be repaired and re-occupied after the civic body certifies them fit for occupation.
