Meanwhile, those who have got allotment letters are now worried about the completion of the work within the time limit of three years. They are also worried that the cost of the project will keep rising if the authorities keep stalling.

Earlier, LIT used to wait for several months for approval to conduct the draw and later issue allotment letters. Local Government Minister Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar had handed over allotment letters to 487 applicants on April 10. It was announced at that time that the tenders would be floated within a week, but the authorities are still waiting for approval for a month.

Under the scheme, 336 HIG and 240 MIG flats will be built on 8.80 acres of land in Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar. Officials claimed that multi-storeyed residential earthquake-resistant towers would be constructed and the flats would have facilities of swimming pool, gymnasium, green park, club house, CCTV, 24-hour water supply, table-tennis room, multi-purpose hall, double Lifts with 24×7 power backup, video-door phone in each flat, large balcony, fire hydrant system, rain water harvesting system, small commercial center and separate five-storey parking facility.

The draw for 576 flats (336 for HIG applications and 151 for MIG applications) was held on June 16, 2022.
