Vijayawada : The Supreme Court Said on Wednesday that the allocation of housing sites in R5 zone Amaravati For poor subject to final decision of AP High Court.

Supreme Court The state government refused to grant a stay on allotment of housing sites to the poor in the R5 sector as the Andhra Pradesh government said it had already allotted sites. The court said that third party rights of the plot holders are also subject to the decision of the High Court.

The SC bench of Justice KM Joseph and Justice Arvind Kumar heard the submissions made by senior counsel representing Amaravati Farmer.

He told the court that farmers of 29 villages in Amravati have given their valuable land under the land pooling scheme in the hope of development. The government convinced the farmers by showing the master plan and proposed nine cities. But the master plan was deliberately changed and housing sites were allotted to non-residential areas.

The farmers urged the court to stay the R5 area till the hearing of the Amaravati petitions in July 2023.

Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for the state government, said that out of 34,000 acres, the government has allotted 900 acres of land to the poor, which is equivalent to 3.1 per cent of the total land.
