Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has issued a notice to the construction contractor Chief Minister Home Scheme (MGY) in housing scheme Sayajipura City area.
The move comes in the wake of an incident in which three people had a narrow escape when the plaster ceiling of an apartment in the scheme fell on the room. The incident took place at Vinayak Residency built for middle-income group beneficiaries under MGY. A woman Akshata Pandya, her son and her elderly mother were present in the bedroom.
The family told media persons that they had shifted to the house only six months ago. For some time now, he had noticed cracks in the ceiling plaster in two different rooms of the house.
The incident also exposed other issues with the plan made in 2017.
Leader of the opposition Congress party in VMC, Ami Rawat wrote a letter to the VMC commissioner stating that the work on the housing scheme was incomplete. He pointed out that rain water harvesting system and community hall was not provided at the site. He said that instead of two lifts, only one lift has been arranged in the apartment.
The civic body on Friday issued a notice to the contractor building the scheme. Sources said it was the second contractor who took up the project after the previous contractor was unable to complete the work. The contractor has been asked to clear the pending works at the earliest.
