Chandigarh: The Municipal Corporation (MC) has issued about 300. have detected commercial Property without any owner, seeking information about them from the property office of the UT administration to enable them to collect property tax.
The move comes after a survey by several teams of the civic body.
The employees did not close or seal or allot these assets by other departments. As a result, the name and address of the owner of the property could not be found in the records.
“Since all these properties are located in the city and the property office is the custodian of the land, the civic body has written a letter to trace the owners for obtaining property tax. We expect a positive reply. This will enable us to get tax on these properties in future. The MC staff asked the neighbors about the owners of the property during the survey, but they were unaware,” said sources.
Most properties are booths. They are located in sectors 7, 8, 9, 11, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, 23, 27, 28, 31, 34, 36, 38 and 39.
“Commercial property tax is the major segment of revenue generation and maximum revenue comes from it as compared to residential properties. It is important for us to trace the owners of these properties and collect revenue from them,” the sources said.
