“The cooperative department has directed the managing director of OCHC to take all possible steps for early handing over of the flats. The home buyers had approached the Odisha Real Estate Regulatory Authority, which issued an order asking the OCHC to pay compensation or give possession to them in 2019.
OCHC had informed that it was unable to proceed with the project due to financial constraints. With the then cooperation, Ranendra Pratap Singh had to give a statement in the House, and the matter was raised in the Assembly as well. He had promised to allot the flat in 2020. In 2021 also the matter was raised in the assembly.
Sources said buyers have paid about 95 per cent for the flats about six years ago. OCHC terminated the contract with the private party that started construction in 2017. Five years later, he informed the buyers about resuming the work by involving the Police Housing Corporation.
