Bangalore: The BBMP But the occupancy certificate issued to the 2,000-unit apartment complex has been canceled Thanisandra Main Road North in Bangalore.
The town planning department of the urban body has said this in its order. Grace Ltd. had obtained OC for Sobha City Project by showing fake documents The order issued on Saturday said that the no-objection certificates and clearance certificates that the builder claimed to have received from the fire department in 2013, 2016 and 2019 were fake.
An official from Sobha Ltd’s corporate communications team denied any wrongdoing, saying they had presented a document in 2017 that had some discrepancies, but the documents presented in 2020 had no errors. The official said that the BBMP has considered the 2017 document while deciding the matter and Shobha will clarify with the authorities that the latest document submitted by her has not been considered.
The owners of the flat are struggling to understand what is happening. Palike investigated the issue in February 2021 based on a complaint by Srinivasa Rao Talla. The BBMP wrote to the fire department seeking clarification and later responded by saying that it had neither issued a no-objection certificate nor an evacuation certificate to the apartment. It may be noted that while issuing any OC, BBMP puts a condition that “in case of any wrong information or misrepresentation of facts or pending court cases, the permission shall stand cancelled”.
Anil Kalgi, president of the Bangalore City Flat Owners Welfare Association, said the real estate company had obtained the OC by using forged documents.
