Lavasa apex body writes to PM for central intervention in Pune, Real Estate News, ET RealEstate

Pune: Apex body of Lavasa Property owners have written to the prime minister through the Centralized Public Grievance System, seeking the Centre’s intervention in resolving several issues faced by residents of the privately employed hill town.

In a letter to the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (cpgrams) On 3 January, residents demanded that the central government take over the hill town and ensure that fundamental rights of citizens are not violated.

Residents told TOI that the city is crumbling without money to maintain regular services. Suresh Goswami, a member of the apex body, said, “Many roads are in a bad condition, and most of the shops and establishments are closed in the hill town.” ,

The letter, a copy of which is with TOI, said that the Resident Professional (RP) and committee of creditors (CoC) should compensate the property owners for the immense hardships faced by them. He has also demanded a “forensic audit” of the actions taken in the last 10 years.

Capt MR Wadia (retd), president of the association who wrote the letter, said citizens have invested heavily in the project and have been facing hardships for the last 13 years. He said, “Nobody is accountable, and we have to seek justice in the courts. There is a huge potential for the city, if administered efficiently in the national interest.”
The letter states that many residents were forced to move out due to poor maintenance and have no right to resolve their issues.

The letter states that the city’s electricity was recently disconnected due to non-payment of dues by the LCL management. Supreme court Electricity and water have been restored selectively while ordering citizens not to be deprived of their fundamental rights.

“Many localities do not have street lights. Many residents light the streets in their areas by drawing electricity from their homes. Who is going to pay for this extra consumption of electricity? After repeated requests to the RP and CEO Nothing has happened since.” has been done to rectify the situation,” Wadia said.

Incidentally, an earlier letter to the Public Grievance Mechanism had directed the state to take cognizance of the issues. However, residents said the state has not yet intervened in the matter.
